Introduction

A Pressure Vessel is a carefully manufactured airtight container designed to hold a gas or liquid at a pressure significantly different from the pressure of the surrounding air.

Hypothetically, pressure vessels can have many different shapes. However, the most common shapes are cylinders, spheres, and cones. The combination of a long cylinder and two caps (heads) is a typical design. These pressure vessels are classified as Type I and Type IV.

Some heat exchangers like Shell And Tube Heat Exchanger, Storage Tank Water Heater and so on, should manufacutre accoring to the standard of pressure vessel.

Usage

Most pressure vessels are for industrial use, includes hot water tanks and diving cylinders. In industry, pressure vessels can be used for high pressure or low pressure sealing, depending on the needs of the customer and the materials used. They can also be used for cooling and process heating. As well as a means of achieving a secondary seal in the processed material.

For gas or liquid use, pressure vessels can be fitted with electric immersion heaters.  Industrial versions of these heaters enable heating of various substances (water, oil, gas and solvents) by direct contact. Immersion heaters can be mounted on pressure vessels with flanged, welded or threaded connections. Combinations of electric immersion heaters and pressure vessels are ideal for heating gases and liquids, and generating steam.
